About

Born and raised in Colorado, folk singer-songwriter Ruby Greenberg’s music perfectly embodies an enchanting view of the mountainside. Her indie-folk melodies and lyrics are inspired by the natural surroundings that bring her joy, so it’s no surprise that her songs are a perfect pairing with a walk in the woods or a day exploring in nature. Ruby draws inspiration from 60s songwriting giants like Joni Mitchell along with contemporary folk/alt artists Brandi Carlile, Joy Oladokun, and Lizzy McAlpine.

Ruby has known a love of music for as long as she can remember. Often found joyfully singing to herself as a child, she used music both as a solace and as an outlet for joy. Her affinity for song was nurtured by a music-loving family. Her earliest memories are of piecing together lyrics while her brother strummed the guitar, singing from Carole King’s 'Tapestry' songbook in three part harmony with her family at the piano, or absorbing the sounds of rock and roll records played often and at high volume around the house. Music was more than just a channel for her own emotions, it was also her key to connecting with others.

Growing up, Ruby spent as much time as she could with music, learning instruments, playing shows locally and joining numerous bands and vocal groups through her teen years until moving to New York City for college. The next decade found Ruby immersed in the city's music scene, performing and touring with various bands, cutting her teeth working jobs in the music business at labels and artist teams, and performing with countless indie musicians. Eager to find her voice, her gigs and fellow musicians were as eclectic and genre-bending as the city itself.

Though deep in the NYC music scene, Ruby felt something missing, growing weary of the hustle of the Big Apple. She took to her pen and paper to write songs where she expressed her feelings for the world around her and to nature. She spent more time off of the bandstand and inside the studio, writing and recording her original music. She eventually packed up and moved back to Colorado, living in the mountains for a year to focus on her writing and finding her voice. She is now based in Southern California where she enjoys a natural muse of beaches and canyons set to the backdrop of the inspiring LA songwriting scene.

An indie-folk artist, Ruby delivers intimate performances connecting directly to her audience through the story of her lyrics, intimate vocals, and acoustic arrangements. Since first releasing her original music in 2019 as a solo artist, she has recorded numerous singles and live studio covers available to stream, praised by Ear to the Ground Music, Glamglare, and Colorado Public Radio.
